One of Marvel’s most compelling and conflicted characters comes to the big screen as Jared Leto transforms into the enigmatic antihero, Michael Morbius. Dangerously ill with a rare blood disorder, and determined to save others suffering his same fate, Dr. Morbius attempts a desperate gamble. What at first appears to be a radical success soon reveals itself to be a remedy potentially worse than the disease.
The movie originally had a July 31st, 2020 theatrical release, but due to the current situation with the coronavirus pandemic it has been pushed until March of 2021. (3/30/20)
Adria Arjona plays "Martine Bancroft."
Jared Leto stars as "Dr. Michael Morbius."
Directed by Daniel Espinosa (Safe House, Life).
In an alternate ending to the 1998 movie Blade, the Morbius character was briefly shown wearing a mask as Blade spots him on a rooftop from a distance. Apparently writer David S. Goyer intended for Morbius to be the main villain in a potential sequel, however that idea was eventually scrapped in favor of the Reaper storyline instead.
Based on the Marvel character that first appeared as an antagonist to Spider-Man in The Amazing Spider-Man issue #101. The character would eventually go on to become an antihero and have his own comic series in the early-to-mid 90's.
Sony is expected to release Morbius in theaters on March 19, 2021.
