ATTN: EVERYONE - Please list 10 of the scariest films you have ever seen!

Unread post by jemiNii » 1 month ago

Greetings,

I have decided to work on a special media server just for October. I am breaking down the Dark Cloud network and will be using one of the PLEX servers for October only. A few members will have the chance - criteria/contest undetermined at this time - to have a full month’s access to this server that will be loaded with a combination of Halloween classics and films that are considered to be the scariest and/or most extreme films ever made. Of course, this server can be used to broadcast to your TV or whatever device you choose.

I will be choosing some films - but I need your help. Even if you are not a member (yet?) - I would like your input. Please reply to this post with your 10 candidates for most scariest/extreme films - there is plenty of room so they all will probably make it. :D

Thanks,

- jemiNii

P.S. 10 is the minimum - please post as many as you think would qualify and if you notice someone else already posted the same title please use another - it is not necessary to look through every list

Well, this is certainly interesting topic, just as interesting & inspirational as the two mate´s posts above, so I´ll add mine too in a little while, when I´ll think about it properly, because it´s kinda tricky - for me there´s a fine line between my favorite horror movies & scariest movies I´ve seen ;) Be back to you, don´t worry, children of the (mid)night…
…ok, so here´s my modest list of films with scary potential.. harder to make up with excluding flicks mentioned by guys above :tease:

The Human Centipede - you really didn´t think that this one could be missing here, right?
Halloween
Black Christmas
Alien
A Nightmare on Elm Street
Jeepers Creepers
The Beyond
It Follows
Phenomena
6th Sense
Hellraiser
Inside
Livide
REC
Antichrist

@dwest No worries on the getting carried away part - I want the HorrorPlex server to be the most desired server to access every October - as many classics and decent nasties as I can get on there - scarier the better …. :D

Yes it gets tougher with each post added.

With some horror films it might be one or two memorable scenes which carry it, others it might be the music which can of course contribute to the all important ‘atmosphere’. Personally I love some of the combinations with sci fi for that additional element of the dark unknown, so you might spot a theme amongst my choices. Others make my list in the wider context of how old I was when I saw them or how original and scary they should be considered at the time of release and for that reason I have listed them chronologically and whimped out of ordering on merit. No snobbery, I love a good B-Movie that shows what can be achieved on a low budget.

Nosferatu (1922)
Phantom of the Opera, The (1925)
Hunchback of Notre Dame, The (Remake, 1939)
Incredible Shrinking Man, The (1957)
Psycho (1960)
Trial, The (1962)
Lord of the Flies (1963)
Day of the Triffids (1963)
Village of the Damned (1965)
Devil Rides Out, The (1968)
Tombs of the Blind Dead (Original Spanish version; English Subtitles, 1971)
Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974)
Let Sleeping Corpses Lie (1974)
Bug (1975)
Invasion of the Bodysnatchers (Remake, 1978)
Evil Dead, The (1981)
People Under the Stairs, The (1991)
Wrong Turn (2003)
Calvaire (2004)
Sheitan (2006)
Mother of Tears (2007)
Manhunt (2008)
Citadel (2012)
From the Dark (2014)

A big Thank-you to those who contributed their list. I will be using them as a partial basis for the films that will be on HorrorPlex this October. HorrorPLEX will only be active during the month of October and the lucky members who get access to it are going to have the tools to make that Halloween the best they have ever had ….. film-wise anyway. :P

:thanks:

Good-Luck!
