Board rules

These rules are disclosed to clarify the various responsibilities of all community members here on United Horror Fans BBS. They shall be adhered to by everyone to ensure that our board runs smoothly and provides a fun and productive experience for all of our community members and visitors.

  1. Registration

    1. Registration is a quick process and you will be approved by e-mail automatically. All registrants are applying for a BASIC membership. #
    2. ANY BASIC member may apply for FULL membership as soon as their account is activated. They may inquire in chat or PM the administrator for more information. #
  2. Profile Information

    1. All members are allowed to change their username. This option is mainly for those who register with social log-in and are not given the choice of username during registration. You may not change it in a random or unnecessary manner. Your account will be removed if you change your username for subversive or deceitful purposes. #
    2. All members are allowed to change their e-mail address (verified only). It may not be changed in a random or unnecessary manner. Your account will be removed if you change your e-mail address for subversive or deceitful purposes. #
    3. Use your personal information in the profile fields at your own risk. You will receive a warning if you post any personal information containing addresses or telephone numbers within any portion of the board or by any of its services. Aside from birthday, it is advised that no other personally identifiable information, including but not limited to your real name, be included in your profile information. #
    4. It is a requirement of your membership that you choose a flag to represent your country. If you use the social network method, you will not have this option during registration. You can set your flag in the User Control Panel under the Profile settings. If you fail to choose a flag, one will be chosen for you based on the location of the IP address you registered with. #
  3. Basic Rules For All Forums

    1. Do NOT flame or insult other members. #
    2. Do NOT abuse or encourage abuse of the Points, Reputation, Post Reporting, or Private Messaging Systems #
    3. Do NOT post personally identifiable information (i.e. name, address, email, phone number, etc.) The "Send e-mail to {Username}" feature on each member's profile page will not reveal the address it is sending to. All e-mail addresses are kept completely private. #
    4. Do NOT bump threads #
    5. Do NOT derail a thread's topic. #
    6. Do NOT post links to phishing sites. #
    7. Do NOT post spam (i.e. +1, 10char, rickrolls) or Re-post Closed, Modified, Deleted Content. #
    8. Do NOT repetitively post in the incorrect forum (example: book review in the classic television forum). #
    9. Do NOT openly argue with a moderator. Contact the Moderator via a private message. #
    10. Do NOT share your account. Forum accounts are intended for the use by one person. #
    11. Do NOT create alternate, backup, or multiple accounts. #
    12. Do NOT publicly post or otherwise share PMs with other users unless you have the expressed permission of the sender to do so. #
    13. Do NOT post threats of violence or harassment, even as a joke. #
    14. Do NOT solicit, beg, auction, sell, advertise, or refer to such. UHF reserves the right to ask for donations and to provide links as to where it is possible to purchase films, etc.. that are showcased on this site. #
    15. KickStarter Forum is exempt from the solicitation rule as long as the campaign is horror-themed. UHF reserves the right to remove any campaign regardless of theme for any and/or no reason as the administration deems necessary. #
    16. Do NOT backseat moderate and try to enforce the rules yourself. Contact the admin or a moderator and let them handle it. #
  4. Ranks

    1. Ranks are assigned by Administrator only. You can ascend in rank based on membership age, number of posts, or based upon contributions. It does not matter what you contribute as long as it is approved - all contributions are treated equally. #
    2. A variety of positions are sometimes available for FULL members. Anyone who takes one of these positions and maintains it for a minimum of six (6) months or more may retire with an eLiTe membership. Please inquire in chat or by "Contact Us" link. (EX: Global Moderator, Site Developer, etc...) #
  5. Banned/Spammers

    1. If you are banned from this board for spamming or trying to disrupt the normal operation of this board - your e-mail address and/or IP address will be turned over to the Stop Forum Spam organization. Once listed by them - many boards including this one - will stop you at the registration process and deny you access. #
    2. If you are given more than (2) warnings for misconduct on this board in any 30 day time period you will be temporarily placed in a limited account for assessment. The period of time shall not exceed one (1) week. If the infractions are deemed serious enough, your account will be removed. #
  6. Copyright

    1. The videos and complete films you may be able to view here are not stored here. This site only has the links to media that are hosted elsewhere. Any links to copyrighted works are just that - links. These links are provided to/by the members of UHF for educational/evaluation purposes only! You may ask for a link to be removed if you believe that the way your copyrighted works are being displayed or represented does not fall under Fair Use. You must submit a proper DMCA Takedown Notice. #

  7. Adults Only

    1. No one under the age of 18 is allowed. Any member/visitor found to be underage will be banned from the site immediately. #
  8. Inactive Accounts

    1. ALL members must log-on to the board no less than once (1) per every thirty (30) days. If you do not log-in within any thirty (30) day period, your account will be considered inactive and removed. #
  9. Privacy

    1. Under no circumstances, will any member’s e-mail address or personal information be submitted to any third party service. The one (1) exception is for spammers/abusers of the board who will have their e-mail address and IP address submitted to the STOP FORUM SPAM Organization. #
    2. We incorporate various services and coding to protect your e-mail address from being harvested from the website by bots. You will not receive any SPAM by becoming a member here. Your e-mail address is as safe here as we can possibly make it. #
    3. All visitors to this site are SAFE from the usual scrutiny by Google for their analysis purposes. They gather data on your browser, location, interests, gender, etc… at every site you visit. If the site is listed on a Google search page - Big Brother Google is there. It does not matter what information you enter into the sites you visit - they know the real information and they feed it to every website owner who asks. We do not incorporate Google Analytics into our website and do not participate in tracking our members. #
    4. Logs are kept for a minimal amount of time - usually one (1) day - to assess if there were any errors or to see if someone has attempted any nefarious activities. There will never be any logs to turn over to anyone because it is our policy not to keep them …. #
